SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — The Springfield Police Department had to administer Narcan to save the life of a woman overdosing in her vehicle, and now she is due in court in November to face a number of charges.
On Aug. 9 at 6:59 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of the Springfield Town Highway garage at 216 Fairground Road for the report of an unresponsive subject in a vehicle, according to a report by released by the Springfield Police Department on Sept. 24. Dispatch advised the officers that the vehicle was still in the roadway, and it was a possible overdose. When officers arrived they found the operator, later identified as Kimberly Duprey, unresponsive in the vehicle.
Officers needed to break the driver’s side window to get to Duprey. Narcan was administered, and Duprey became responsive.
After an investigation at the scene, Duprey was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. Blood tests were sent out to the Vermont Forensic Laboratory, and it was later confirmed that Duprey was allegedly under the influence of drugs while driving her vehicle.
At the scene, officers conducted a consent search of Duprey’s vehicle, and found suspected narcotics. The narcotics were sent to the Vermont Forensic Laboratory for drug analysis, and she was found to be in possession of cocaine and fentanyl.
Duprey was later issued a criminal citation to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on Nov. 26 to answer to charges of DUI Drugs, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Fentanyl.
Springfield Police also arrested a man who allegedly assaulted someone and prevented them from calling emergency services.
According to a release by the department, on Sept. 20 at 9:11 a.m., officers responded to 32 Valley Street in Springfield for an active domestic disturbance. After an investigation it was found that Chambers allegedly assaulted the victim and prevented them from calling emergency services. The man was found to be Eric L. Chambers, who also had an active set of conditions of release that were found to be violated.
Chambers was arrested at 9:29 a.m. and charged with aggravated domestic assault, violation of conditions of release, and interference with access to emergency services violation.
He was taken into custody without incident and taken to Springfield Police to be processed. Chambers was fingerprinted, photographed and issued conditions of release and a criminal citation to appear at the Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Windsor Unit on Sept. 23.
He was held without bail and taken to the Southern State Correction Facility.
On Sept. 20, Springfield Police arrested Frank Garceau for an in-state warrant.
According to a release by the department, on Sept. 20 at 9:25 p.m., officers who were patrolling the Springfield Plaza came into contact with Garceau. They advised him he had an alleged warrant for his arrest and took him into custody without incident. Garceau was issued a criminal citation to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on Sept. 23 to answer to the charge. He was held at Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.
On September 22, Springfield Police arrested Zachary D. Carpenter for an alleged domestic assault.
According to a report by the department, at 2:07 a.m. a 911 call came in regarding a domestic disturbance in progress at 35 Chester Road. After an investigation it was found that Carpenter had allegedly assaulted the victim.
Carpenter was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Springfield Police Department for processing. He was issued conditions of release and a criminal citation to appear at the Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Windsor Unit on Sept. 23 to answer to the charge of Domestic Assault.
Carpenter was taken to Southern State Correction Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash or surety bail.
