Newport Cross Country Coach Tyler Whipple was pleased with his team’s performance at the Moonlight Madness on Oct. 6 at Monadnock, as each runner had the best times of their careers.
“Moonlight madness on October 5th went very well for us,” Whipple said. “11th out of 12 teams. We may not have done so well as far as team points as we were missing three of our competitors that day. It was a great race with very stiff competition from D1, D2, and D3 teams. All of our runners that raced had 5k personal records! A very fun event that I’m glad we were able to participate in.”
Whipple praised the performance of Bentley Waterman in the race, who accomplished the feat of a sub-30-minute 5K for the first time.
“We were all so pumped to have him accomplish 28:57,” Whipple said.
Times are as follows:
Bryce Palmer, 24th, 17:55.94
John Wilkinson, 61st, 20:13.5
Max Huot, 94th, 22:09.7
Kellan Zullo, 100th, 22:45.3
Bentley Waterman, 122nd, 28:57.8
The Newport cross country team returns to the Cheshire Fairgrounds for the CVC Championship Meet on Friday.
