Theodore “Ted” A. Huff

SUNAPEE, NH– Theodore “Ted” Alfred Huff, 81, of Cary Farm Road, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Born on November 3, 1942, in Newport, NH, Ted was the eldest child of Alfred and Lottie (Brown) Huff. He grew up with his sister Sally (Huff) Wilson and brother Mike Huff, and graduated from Sunapee High School in 1961, as an accomplished multi-sport athlete.

Ted spent most of his career in the maintenance department at King Ridge Ski Area. In 1975, Ted and his then wife, Margaret, welcomed their first son, Darren, followed by their second son, Brandon, in 1979.

Ted’s passions were rooted in the outdoors, particularly hunting, fishing, gardening, and beekeeping. While he enjoyed all his outdoor pursuits, hunting held a special place in his heart. He took great pride in scouting his hunting spots well in advance of the season, and his proudest moment came when he harvested two big bucks with his bow in the same season, one of which earned the New Hampshire Big Game Trophy Award for its impressive rack.

Ted married Amy (Ralens) Huff in 1990. Ted and Amy were well-known in the community for their flourishing vegetable gardens. From early spring to late fall, they devoted countless hours to cultivating a wide variety of vegetables, generously sharing their bounty with neighbors and friends. It was not uncommon for locals to return home to find bags of zucchini, squash, cucumbers, and tomatoes left on their doorsteps—Ted and Amy found as much joy in sharing their harvest as they did in growing it.

Ted was predeceased by his beloved wife, Amy Huff; his parents, Alfred and Lottie Huff; his sister-in-law, Brenda Huff; and his niece, Penny Wilson. He is survived by his son, Darren Huff and wife Heather (Wilkie), and grandchildren Andrew, Madden, and Reese, all of Wilmot; his son Brandon Huff of Wilmot; his former wife, Margaret Eaton and husband Nick of Wilmot; his sister Sally (Huff) Wilson and her husband David of Fort Myers, Florida; his brother Michael Huff of Sunapee; his niece Heidi (Wilson) Baer and husband Marty of Fort Myers, Florida; his nephew Zachary Wilson and wife Maricella of Fort Myers, Florida; his nephew Shane Huff and wife Missy of Eldridge, Iowa; his niece Kali (Huff) Hooper and husband Kurt of Gilford, NH; along with their respective children, as well as many extended family members, trusted neighbors, and close friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on November 2nd at Eastman Cemetery in Sunapee, with a luncheon to follow until 2pm at The Livery in Sunapee. All are welcome to attend the ceremony and/or the luncheon to celebrate Ted’s life. The family encourages casual attire, including hunting gear, as the service coincides with the first day of hunting season—a day that Ted always looked forward to. Friends are

invited to come out of the woods, join in the celebration, and grab a bite to eat before heading back out.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Sunapee Region VNA & Hospice at www.lakesunapeevna.org/giving/donate. To sign the online guestbook, please visit www.chadwickfuneralservice.com.
