SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — The Springfield Police Department observed a local woman driving away from a known drug house on Spring Street and was ultimately arrested for driving with her license suspended.
According to a release by the department, on Oct. 14 at 1:38 a.m. an officer was on routine patrol on Union Street near Spring Street when he saw a vehicle leave a known drug house. The vehicle had an expired registration, and when pulled over the officer identified the operator as Mary Benjamin.
The officer checked her license and confirmed that her Vermont’s driver’s license and privilege to drive was allegedly under criminal suspension. Benjamin was taken into custody without incident and was scheduled to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on Oct. 17 to answer the charge. Windsor Court officials said she was not in court and said that the case may have been moved up, and did not have additional information about the arrest.
On Oct. 12 at 5:12 p.m. officers were dispatched to a possible overdose on Furnace Street. While on the scene an officer came into contact with Anthony Hutchinson, and it was found that he allegedly had an active in-state governor’s warrant. He was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility.
A governor’s warrant is issued when another state is looking for someone to be extradited. Additional information was requested by the court but not received by deadline.
