Claremont Senior Center News 

CLAREMONT, N.H. — The Claremont Senior Center is open every Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. We have many activities including pool, card games, cribbage, puzzles, mahjong, knitting and quilting, to name a few. Miracle Ear, an American Red Cross Blood Drive and VNA Foot Clinic are also scheduled.   

Claremont Senior Center will be open on Veteran’s Day, Monday, Nov. 11 during regularly scheduled hours.  

The phone number to reserve lunch is 603-678-0433 and reservations must be made by 10:30 a.m. There are two options available, dine-in and drive-thru. On Tuesday, Nov. 5, the menu is American Chop Suey with garlic bread and chocolate chip cookies. On Thursday, Nov. 7, the menu is soup, chicken cordon bleu, rice pilaf, a vegetable and lemon/blueberry bread pudding. The price is $5 for members and $6 for non-members. Sit in-meals begin at 11:45 a.m. and drive-thru starts at noon.  

The Senior Men’s Breakfast will take place on Monday, Nov. 18 at 8 a.m. The cost is $2 for members and $3 for non-members.  

The Winter Wonderland Craft Fair will be held Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you are a crafter, we would love to see what you have made to share with the community. To reserve a table, please contact Marilyn at 603-477-8868. 

The Claremont Country Quilters have done it again with a beautiful queen-sized, fall-themed quilt, which is being raffled off to raise funds for the Center. Tickets are on sale now, $1 each or six for $5. Purchase your tickets at the Claremont Senior Center now through Dec. 18.  

November Foot Clinics will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7 and Wednesday, Nov. 13 and Nov. 20. These clinics are sponsored by Lake Sunapee Region VNA and Hospice with a charge of $30. You must call 603-748-1731 to make an appointment. 

Bingo is held every Wednesday afternoon. Please purchase cards by 12:45 p.m.; games begin at 1. The concession is open until bingo starts.    

Want to show your cribbage skills with others? Come and join other enthusiastic players on Tuesdays at 1 p.m.   

“Wannabe” mahjong newcomers are welcome. Interested in learning the game? Please come on Fridays at 1 p.m.    

Come show off your master pieces at the knitter’s group. We are excited to see them, so come by on Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m. and have a good time.    

The Women to Women group will meet Thursday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m.  All women are welcome to come and talk about any issues they are experiencing.   

An American Red Cross blood drive will be on Monday, Nov. 25 from noon to 5 p.m. Please call 1-800-Red-Cross (1-800-733-2767) to schedule an appointment. Blood donors are desperately needed.  

Do you want to be part of the game of pool? Ladies play every Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. Men play Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon.  

Come tell your story with the quilting skills you want to share with other quilters. You don’t have to be a quilter to attend the quilting bee. Bring your own project. The next meeting is Monday, Nov. 4 at 10 a.m.  

Bring your line dancing feet every Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Beginners line dance is from 7 to 8:30 and then intermediate dancing is from 8:30 to 9 p.m. The cost is $3 for members (bring your card) and $5 for non-members. One price will give you both beginner’s and intermediate sessions. Bring your own beverage and a snack if you need one.  

Tai chi class has begun, and the next session will be on Wednesday, Nov. 6   from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. at the Claremont Senior Center. Everyone is welcome to join this class, whether a beginner or advanced. If you are coming for the first time, join us as soon as you can so that you don’t miss important basics. We will go over the form (a series of flowing movements), exercises to help further with balance/fall prevention/ease of movement, etc., and tools to practice at home. Claremont Senior Center Fundraiser Bingo will be Friday, Dec. 13. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 6. The games are open to the public, must be 18 years or older to play. Concessions are available through intermission. If you are interested in helping with future events, whether calling or serving one game, please call Cheryl at 603-543-5998.  

The next membership meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. This will give you a chance to hear what is happening with the center and have a chance to win a free lunch.    

New members are always welcome to come enjoy the facility. You can sign up for a “one-month trial membership” that way you can enjoy our programs and activities before you join us.
