Raymond E. Bodeur

CLAREMONT, NH–  Raymond E. Bodeur of Claremont, New Hampshire passed away peacefully at home with his family on November 23, 2024.

Born in Claremont on April 3, 1927, he was the son of Harvey and Vera Bodeur (Brody).  Raymond was a lifelong resident of Claremont.  He was also a very highly respected businessman in the Claremont area.  During World War II Ray served as a Corpsman in the Navy and was stationed in Nagasaki, Japan just after the atomic bomb was dropped.  He also served in the Air Force during the Korean War.  Ray attended UNH completing a four year degree in only three.  Later in life, Yves Bodeur, a citizen of France and descendant of Raymond’s grandfather’s brother after considerable research found our family in the late 1990’s.  This was a very fortunate event as Raymond was extremely interested in family genealogy.  Raymond traveled to France twice; once with his wife Teresa and again with his second wife, Nelli.  Yves was able to introduce him to many distant relatives and brought him to visit the town and house where his grandfather grew up.

Raymond was predeceased by his first wife, Teresa Bodeur, who passed away December 12, 2006.  He married his second wife, Nelli Nugisa, on February 14th, 2016 on Marco Island, Florida.  Ray leaves his son Michael Bodeur, his wife Larisa Nugisa, daughter Martha Johnson, her husband Jerry Donaldson, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Visiting hours will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home on Broad Street in Claremont on Saturday, November 30th from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.  A reception will follow at the Elks lodge on Summer Street in Claremont.

A graveside service and celebration of life will be held in the spring at a date and time to be announced.
