SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — A Springfield man was arrested and charged with escape last month for allegedly violating furlough conditions.
According to a release put on Sunday by the Springfield Police Department, on Nov. 8 the Springfield Police Department was made aware that Jared Stockman had allegedly violated the terms and conditions of his furlough. After reviewing the information provided by Springfield Probation and Parole, the defendant was located at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility, where he is currently incarcerated.
Springfield Police Chief Jeff Burnham was asked for clarification and he said it was deliberately vague because they were working off information provided by Probation and Parole. A message was left with Springfield Probation and Parole on Monday and not immediately returned.
A request for documents was made to Windsor Superior Court, but they will not be available until closer to the hearing.
Stockman was issued a citation to appear in Windsor Superior Court on Jan. 21 at 8:30 a.m.
Stockman has a history of arrests, and according to the Newport Dispatch, a 41-year-old man named Jared Stockman was arrested for the same charge on Oct. 18, 2023. Stockman was also arrested in 2016 for being a fugitive from justice in New Hampshire
The Springfield Police Department also issued a citation to appear in court for unlawful trespassing at Shaw’s Supermarket in September.
Nathan Heist, 29, of Springfield, Vermont was charged with unlawful trespassing.
On Sept. 11, Shaw’s Supermarket called the Springfield Police Department to report that Nathan Heist was allegedly in the store, which was in violation of a letter against trespass. He was located on Nov. 26 at 4:20 p.m. and issued a citation to appear in court for the alleged charge on Jan. 14.
