UNITY, NH– Mayland P. Osgood of Unity passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 21, 2024 at the Jack Byrne Center.
He was born in Sutton, VT on February 2, 1936 to Guy and Harriet (Wilcox) Osgood.
Mayland, who went by MP, was a self-employed concrete worker. He was a jack-of-all-trades, from working on his truck, to building houses, to helping his family with plumbing and electrical work. He enjoyed woodworking, from cutting boards to furniture, he could make it. MP kept himself busy with many hands-on projects.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gun collector. He enjoyed going on hunting trips for moose and deer with his sons and grandson, sometimes traveling several states away. He was fortunate enough to win the moose lottery twice. One of his favorite places to go is his camp in Pittsburgh, NH, where he spent time with his extended family and where his twin brother still lives.
MP had many close friends he’d spend time shooting the breeze with, having a good old time. He will be missed by many.
He was predeceased by his parents.
His surviving family includes his sons, Matthew Osgood and Jeffrey Osgood and his spouse, his daughters Maryanne Norris and Beverly Wilding and their spouses, his brother Wayland Osgood, his sister Geneva (Jean) Rossier, his previous wife of 54 years, Shirley Osgood, his current partner of 19 years, Eleanor Thompson, 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many extended family members.
A celebration of life will be held in spring of 2025.
