WINDSOR, Vt. — Windsor County Mentors is delighted to announce that Rita B. Gylys has been appointed President of the Board of Directors, succeeding Megan Culp, who has served as president for nearly a decade. Culp will continue her involvement with the organization as a mentor and member of the Advisory Committee.
Gylys brings a wealth of expertise to her new role. A retired attorney with extensive experience in health care law and nonprofit leadership, she has dedicated her career to solving complex challenges and fostering meaningful connections. Rita previously served as Windsor County Mentors’ Treasurer, where her financial acumen and strategic insight contributed significantly to the organization’s success. Her professional journey has included leadership positions at Boston Medical Center and Anthem, Inc. In retirement, Gylys has embraced volunteerism and is now stepping into this pivotal role to guide Windsor County Mentors into its next chapter.
Megan Culp leaves behind a legacy of transformative leadership, having guided Windsor County Mentors through significant growth and challenges. Under her stewardship, the organization expanded its outreach into New Hampshire and strengthened its mission of fostering mentorship relationships between caring adults and local youth.
“I am honored to step into this role and build on the incredible foundation Megan has created,” said Gylys. “I’ve seen firsthand the power of mentorship in my own life and am passionate about bringing that opportunity to youth in our community. I look forward to collaborating with our mentors, partners, and supporters to ensure Windsor County Mentors thrives for years to come.”
Rita’s vision includes ensuring that every child who seeks a mentor has access to one, leading the organization with fresh energy and innovative ideas as it moves into its 51st year. Her leadership is expected to further strengthen the organization’s mission of fostering healthy communities and thriving youth through mentoring relationships.
Nathan Gardner, the Northern Volunteer Coordinator and spokesperson for the org, echoed this enthusiasm, saying, “Everyone is incredibly grateful for the passion and dedication Megan has brought to this organization. She’s been one of our biggest champions. Rita, however, has been an exceptional treasurer, and we’re excited to see her rise to this challenge. In one sense, it’s the end of an era, but it’s also the beginning of something exciting.”
The organization extends its heartfelt gratitude to Megan for her years of service and looks forward to her continued involvement in her new advisory role.
