GOSHEN, NH– John M. Tenney, 89, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024 at Sunapee Cove Assisted Living after a period of declining health.
He was born on November 2, 1935 in Claremont, NH to the late Maurice Tenney and Helen (Nelson) Conroy. He was raised in Goshen and attended Goshen schools before graduating from Towle High School. Always a hard worker, you could often find him with his father doing work on the family farm, right up until Maurice’s passing. John then went on to work at Kelley Drug Store and as a machinist at Micro Precision for many years.
John married the love of his life, Jean Connell, on October 31, 1959 and they shared 54 wonderful years together before her passing in 2013. John and Jean enjoyed going to country music concerts together. John was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed gardening, working in the woods, and playing golf.
John was predeceased by his parents; loving spouse; stepfather, Philip Conroy; and stepbrother, Philip “Butch” Conroy, II. Surviving family members include his daughter, Sharon Johnson (Arthur) of Goshen; son, Michael Tenney, of Goshen; stepsister, Phyllis Coggeshall of Maine; sister in law, Laurie Conroy; and many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
A graveside service will be held at Mill Village Cemetery in Goshen in the spring of 2025. Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
