Arthur J. Plouffe

CLAREMONT, NH– Arthur Joseph Plouffe, 82, father of Kathryn Beatrice Plouffe and brother of Carl Plouffe, passed away unexpectedly on December 26, 2024, at his home. His last days were spent being loved and pampered by his family and friends who have turned into family.

Arthur was born in Claremont, NH, at Claremont General Hospital to William Joseph Plouffe and Beatrice Grace Plouffe, on May 29, 1942.

Arthur and his late wife, Nancy Ann Plouffe, were very well known for the business they created together. Arthur was still working the business on a smaller scale after his wife’s passing in May of 2011.

Arthur was a lifelong resident of Claremont. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Claremont in 1961 and then went into the US Army. He served in Vietnam and after returning home was stationed at Fort Devons in Massachusetts. After his honorable discharge, he met the love of his life, Nancy Ann Greenwood of Windsor, VT, on a blind date. They were married October 7, 1976. Four years later, they welcomed their one and only child, Kathryn Beatrice Plouffe, into the world.

Arthur worked at Sturm Ruger firearms in Newport, NH, for 32 years. He worked in many departments, but his favorite, was woodworking. He left Ruger’s to run his business full time. He never dreamed that the community would be so welcoming and would always keep him, his wife and daughter busy for another 35 years. Arthur loved seeing friends and family and could always make you laugh. He always looked forward to his class reunions. He was a regular at the Daily Grind in Claremont where he enjoyed breakfast with his friends. Arthur was truly a proud Army veteran.

He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

Arthur’s daughter and brother asks that he be remembered for his love of his family, his love of all living things and his kind heart, not the sadness of his passing. He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn B. Plouffe of Goffstown, NH, her life partner, Roger Chabot, and his brother, Carl J. Plouffe of Claremont. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy.

Calling hours are on Sunday, Jan. 5th, at Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont from 2-4PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, Jan. 6th at 11AM at St. Joseph’s Church in Claremont. Graveside military services will follow. After the burial, there will be a gathering at St. Joseph’s Hall to remember Arthur, 12:45pm food will be served.
