LANGDON, N.H. — Fresh off of winning the Connecticut River Classic in convincing fashion, Fall Mountain notched its first official win of the season on Friday night at The Den.
The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead over Derryfield and kept their foot on the accelerator throughout most of the contest while cruising to a 62-39 victory.
Following a 31-point outburst in Fall Mountain’s most recent game against Bellows Falls, Luke St. Pierre continued to have the hot hand while scoring 12 points during the first quarter. Fall Mountain closed the period on a 14-0 run to claim a 21-6 advantage after eight minutes.
Shots weren’t falling as rapidly for Fall Mountain during the second quarter, but they continued to apply the defensive pressure necessary to thwart Derryfield’s attack. Four players combined to tally double digits for the hosts as they extended their lead to 31-14 entering the half.
Fall Mountain’s Ledger Willett put on a clinic during the third quarter, scoring from near and far while posting 16 points during the period. Willett’s outburst all but ended any hopes of a comeback for Derryfield as the hosts entered the final frame with a 54-25 edge.
Fall Mountain was able to pull its foot off the accelerator a bit in the fourth quarter while coasting to a 23-point victory. Carmine Bactad and Tyler Metcalf scored their first points of the season for the Wildcats during the game’s final minutes.
Ledger Willett’s third quarter scoring spree fueled a game-high 21 points. Luke St. Pierre (14), Zach Hearne (11), and Tyson Patch (10) also scored double digits for Fall Mountain. Sam Fazelat was the top scorer for Derryfield (0-4) with 15 points.
Fall Mountain (1-3) will look to keep its winning ways going when they head to winless Hillsboro-Deering on Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
