SUNAPEE, N.H. — A Sunapee woman is facing felony theft charges for allegedly stealing a $12,000 ring and pawning it off at a shop in Keene.
Angela Scanlon, 47, of Sunapee was arrested on Dec. 29 and charged with Theft by Unauthorized Taking of more than $1,501.
According to a report by the Sunapee Police Department, on Dec. 12 at 11:53 a.m., Officer Joseph Merullo received a report of a ring that had been pawned off at a pawn shop in Keene, which was then reported stolen. An investigation, which included speaking with the parties involved, led to police identifying the suspect as Scanlon.
On Dec. 16, Officer Merullo recovered the stolen ring from the pawn shop. On Dec. 20, a warrant was applied for and subsequently granted for Scanlon’s arrest.
Scanlon turned herself in at the Sunapee Police Department on Dec. 29, at 10 a.m. She was booked, bailed and released on personal recognizance at about 10:50 a.m., with an arraignment date of March 4 at the 5th Circuit Court in Newport.
