Monday night’s matchup in North Sutton featured one of the marquee matchups of the Division 3 regular season schedule. The two undefeated squads entered the final quarter tied at 44 before an offensive onslaught allowed Kearsarge to run away with an 11-point victory.

Noah Whipple led Kearsarge with 27 points, Eli Whipple was next with 15, and Austin Needham added 13. Without All-State forward Tanner Moulton, Mascoma Valley fell to 4-1 despite a 25-point performance from Bryce Ballou.

Springfield, Windsor suspended

For the second time in a week’s span, Springfield and Windsor engaged in a back-and-forth contest on Monday night in Windsor.

With the Cosmos leading 49-48 with 47.5 seconds remaining in the extra frame, the game was brought to a halt after a Windsor player was injured while pursuing a loose ball.

Following a discussion by coaches, officials and administrators, it was announced that the game would be suspended.

“We want to wish [him] a speedy recovery and keep him in our thoughts and prayers,” Springfield Head Coach Kraig Harlow said. “All of our boys were shaken and they didn’t want to play any more basketball tonight.”

Springfield and Windsor are both slated to return to action on Friday at 7 p.m. The Cosmos will travel to Woodstock while the Yellow Jackets host Burr & Burton.
