John Fabrycky

LEMPSTER, NH– On the 5th of January 2025, John Fabrycky passed away peacefully at home in Lempster, New Hampshire.

He was born May 16, 1941 in Jamaica, New York, the son of Henry and Alice (Hennessy) Fabrycky.  He grew up in Floral Park, Long Island, NY.  He graduated from Sewanhaka High School, in Floral Park, NY.  John served in the United States Army.  He was a helicopter mechanic.  After serving he returned home to work with his father at Henry & John Fabrycky Printers, Lithographers, and Typesetters in Floral Park, NY.

He went on to work at the Museum of Natural History in the printing department.  While there he met his wife, Barbara.  They were married on October 15, 1966 for 58 years.  They resided in Queens Village, New York with their daughters.  He worked at Berthold of North America in New Jersey as a Training Officer teaching computerized printing.

Every summer he would take his family on vacation for two weeks traveling along the east coast.  In 1981 John and his family moved to Lempster, New Hampshire to a much peaceful place in the country where they had a mini farm.  John worked at Hurd Offset in Vermont and Country Press which is now Echo Communications Inc. in New Hampshire.  He served on several committees for the town of Lempster including the NH/VT Solid Waste, School Board, Planning Board, and Representative to the VNA Board.  He was involved in conservation in clean up and helped put in the Duck Pond Nature Trail established in August 1984 for the town of Lempster.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.   The grandkids fondly remember the pads of paper he’d bring to them where he’d have all four sides glued together.  He’d give them wafer candies and pull a pen from his pocket to draw faces on their fingers.

John was a jokester and known for his famous earring trick.  To all the ladies out there you know who you are!

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Michalski); his daughters Jennifer Burke and her husband Robert from Claremont, NH; and Tracy Spaulding and her husband Donald from Charlestown, NH; his grandchildren Erica Burke and her husband Trevor Barr from Winooski, Vermont; Stephanie Burke from Laconia, NH; Spencer Burke from Claremont, NH; Connor Spaulding from Charlestown, NH; and Jon Cooper Spaulding from Charlestown, NH; his sister Jane Verdicchio from Holderness, New Hampshire; and his brother-in-law Walter Michalski and his wife Carol from Spring Hill, Florida.  He was pre-deceased by his adoptive sister Elizabeth (Betty) Cookston and sister Ann Marie Freeman.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins from the Fabrycky, Verdicchio, Cookston, and Michalski families.  There are some nieces, nephews, and cousins from these families who have predeceased him.  We sadly learned that his first cousin Wolter Fabrycky passed away in November just before John.  We think of them all at this time.

There will be calling hours at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Friday, January 17th from 1-3pm with a service to follow at 3pm.  A graveside burial will take place in the spring.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Lempster Fire Association, P. O. Box 76, Lempster, NH 03605 or the Lake Sunapee Regional VNA & Hospice, P. O. Box 2209, New London, NH 03257.
