Claremont woman killed in accident with plow on I-91 

WESTMINSTER, Vt. — A Claremont woman was killed in a motor vehicle accident on Monday night in Westminster, when she reportedly collided with the back of a Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT) plow truck on Interstate 91. 

Kimberly Barsalou, 53, of Claremont, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The plow truck driver, Christopher Becker, 62, of Springfield, was treated for minor injuries at Springfield Hospital.  

According to the Vermont State Police, at 8:06 p.m. troopers responded to Westminster at mile marker 27 of I-93 south for a two-vehicle accident involving an SUV and a 2015 International 999 AOT plow truck with serious injuries. There was light precipitation at the time, and the roads were reportedly wet.  

“Investigation into the crash revealed Kimberly Barsalou (53) was operating her Dodge Journey and drove into the back of an AOT plow truck that was out salting the roadway,” the Vermont State Police stated in a prepared statement. 

Both Barsalou and Becker were reportedly wearing their seatbelts. The plow truck sustained minor rear end damage. 

Vermont State Police was assisted by the Westminster Fire Department, Golden Cross Ambulance, Rescue Inc., the Department of Motor Vehicles Enforcement Division, AOT, SG Reed Towing and J&M Auto. 

A request for additional information regarding the cause of the accident was made to the Vermont State Police, but a message was not returned immediately.
