Claremont Opera House to host free theatrical production ‘Lift Every Voice’

CLAREMONT, N.H. — The Claremont Opera House will host “Lift Every Voice,” a live theatrical performance by Bright Star Children’s Theatre, on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at 10 a.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, will highlight influential speeches, poetry and songs from throughout Black history.

The performance will feature excerpts from historic speeches by Frederick Douglass and Sojourner Truth, as well as the poetry of Maya Angelou and Phyllis Wheatley. Audiences will also have the opportunity to sing along with songs from the Civil Rights Movement, creating an engaging and immersive experience.

“We want everyone, especially Claremont area schools and homeschool groups, to know about the event and attend as they are able and as our space allows,” said COH Executive Director Scott Hagar. “It’s a chance for students, families and community members to be entertained, learn some history and be inspired.”

The performance is recommended for students in third grade through adults. General admission is free, thanks to the Claremont Opera House with support from the Kiwanis Club of Claremont.

The performance is free, however reservations in advance are encouraged. For more information and to reserve free tickets online, visit the COH website or call the Box Office at 603-542-4433.
