WARNER, N.H. — The Most Reverend Peter A. Libasci, D.D., Bishop of Manchester, is pleased to announce that the former Magdalen College campus, which includes the Our Lady Queen of Apostles Chapel, has been purchased by the Diocese of Manchester, the Roman Catholic Church in New Hampshire.
The various dormitories, buildings, classrooms and shrines located on the 135-acre property will be used to carry out the mission of the Catholic Church through prayer, evangelization and religious formation. Along with permanent housing for a recognized community of women living in religious life, the campus will provide opportunities for Masses and prayer services, spiritual retreats, Catholic school events, vocations camps and conferences.
The purchase was made from the Catholic Order of Foresters, the former Magdalen College’s insurance company.
“For 50 years, Magdalen College served as a beacon of Catholic education in our Diocese. Its dedication to imparting theological knowledge through its liberal arts curriculum, inspiring its students to put their faith into action and forming them to discern their careers and spiritual vocations, was truly remarkable,” says Bishop Libasci. “It is a blessing that we now have the honor to carry on that special legacy by retaining this beautiful and reverent space for the faithful to deepen their love and commitment to the Lord.”
Representatives of Catholic organizations interested in reserving space for their upcoming events are welcome to contact the Diocese of Manchester at 603-669-3100 or [email protected] to schedule a tour of the property.
