DVFiber seeks executive director to lead high-speed broadband expansion

WILMINGTON, Vt. — DVFiber, Southern Vermont’s community-owned fiber optic internet provider, is seeking a visionary and experienced executive director to lead the development and operation of its high-speed broadband network.

Established as one of Vermont’s 10 Communications Union Districts (CUDs), DVFiber is a municipal organization comprising 24 member towns, primarily in Windham County. Created under a legislative framework, CUDs are designed to equip communities with the tools to deliver broadband where none previously existed, similar to water or sewer districts.

DVFiber’s mission is to provide universal access to high-speed fiber optic internet, with a priority on reaching unserved homes and businesses in its district. This ambitious initiative is being realized through a public-private partnership with Great Works Internet (GWI), a B-Corporation with extensive experience in community-driven broadband projects. Federal grant funds are powering the initial construction phases, with long-term debt financing planned for future expansions.

While DVFiber maintains a physical office in Wilmington, Vermont, the executive director will primarily work in a virtual environment, requiring reliable home internet access. Occasional in-person meetings will also be part of the role.
