BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. — A Brattleboro man with an active warrant was spotted walking along Atkinson Street by Bellows Falls Police on Wednesday night, and when he was searched, officers seized felony amounts of cocaine and fentanyl, as well as a weapon that led to another felony charge.
Adam F. Florence, 46, was arrested on Feb. 19 at 7:51 p.m. for the following charges: Arrest on Warrant (Instate), Possession of Cocaine – 2.5+ Grams (Felony), Depressant/Stimulant/Narcotic Possession (Fentanyl), Violation of Conditions of Release, Possession of a Dangerous/Deadly Weapons During the Commission of a Felony.
According to information provided by the Bellows Falls Police Department, on Feb. 19 officers saw Florence walking on Atkinson Street, and it was discovered that he had an active in-state warrant through the Vermont Superior Court-Windham Criminal Division.
“Officers made contact with Florence and placed him under arrest on the warrant,” authorities stated. “Upon searching Florence incident to arrest he was found to be in possession of a felony amount of cocaine, as well as a quantity of fentanyl. Additionally, Florence was found to be in possession of a dangerous/deadly weapon while committing a felony. Florence was discovered to have active conditions of release issued by the Vermont Superior Court – Windham Unit, which he was in violation of.”
Florence was taken to Bellows Falls Police Department to be processed and was ordered held in lieu of $5,000 cash/surety bail on the new drug and conditions of release violation charges. He was also ordered held in lieu of $200 cash bail for the original warrant. Florence was lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility.
Florence has a criminal history, as he was also arrested in January 2019 for possession of crack cocaine. He was also charged for selling crack cocaine in October 2019, according to a report by the Brattleboro Informer. He was also arrested in July 2024 for shoplifting in Leominster, Massachusetts.
Florence also has a court date scheduled for March 11 stemming from a Feb. 8 arrest, where the Windham County Sheriff’s Office conducted a motor vehicle stop in Putney. Florence was found to have his license criminally suspended and was arrested and issued a citation to appear in court.
A message was left with Bellows Falls Police Chief David Bemis on Thursday but not returned by deadline.
