Massachusetts woman killed in snowmobile accident 

CHESTER, Vt. — A Massachusetts woman was killed in a snowmobile accident on Friday morning in Chester after she reportedly lost control and hit a tree. 

Jessica Gottsche, 42, of Westfield, Massachusetts, was pronounced dead despite lifesaving efforts by emergency personnel. 

According to the Chester Police Department, at 10:45 a.m. on Feb. 21, Chester Ambulance and Chester Police responded to a residence on Goodrich Road for a report of a woman who had been in a snowmobile accident. Chester Ambulance had begun live saving measures before police officers arrived, and medical assistance from the Springfield Fire Department and off-road emergency equipment from the Chester Fire Department was requested.  

“All personnel worked closely to provide the best possible care for the patient,” the report by Chester Police stated. “Ultimately, the female succumbed to her injuries. Gottsche was operating the snowmobile in a recreational manner, lost control, and struck a tree. Gottsche was not wearing a helmet.” 

The Chester Public Safety sent their condolences to the Gottsche’s family and friends. 

Chester Police reminds anyone who is involved in recreational activities like snowmobiling to wear appropriate safety gear.
