No. 2 Mascoma Valley 87, No. 7 Newport 53
CANAAN, N.H. — Mascoma is making a return trip to the semifinals after cruising to a convincing victory in its quarterfinal contest against Newport.
Tanner Moulton and Bryce Ballou had big nights for Mascoma with 33 and 30 points, respectively.
Newport ends the season with a 14-6 record. Seniors Aaron Fellows and Christian Forsythe finished the season as the highest scoring duo in Division 3.
Mascoma (18-1) will face third-seeded Kearsarge in the semifinals on Wednesday at Bow High School. Mascoma and Kearsarge will both be looking to take the next step after losing in the semifinals a season ago.
Springfield 65, Rivendell 64 (OT)
ORFORD, N.H. — The Cosmos entered the fourth quarter with an 11-point lead, but Rivendell responded by outscoring them 14-3 over the ensuing eight minutes to send the game to overtime.
Bradley Gallant scored all 13 of Springfield’s points in the extra frame to help the Cosmos pull out a nail-biter in their regular season finale.
Oliver Kelley led Springfield with 21 points, Gallant was next with 19 and Jameer Cosby added 15.
Springfield (9-10) will be on the road when the playoffs kick off this week.
Woodstock 52, Windsor 35
WINDSOR, Vt. — The Yellow Jackets struggled to stop Woodstock’s Elvis Lavallee, who went off for a game-high 28 points to lead the Wasps to victory in the regular season finale.
Kobin Shute (10) and Michael Lopez (9) led Windsor in the scoring column.
Windsor (3-16) will be on the road for its first-round playoff matchup.
Girls Basketball
Fair Haven 53, Windsor 37
FAIR HAVEN, Vt. — The Yellow Jackets have only dropped three games this winter, but two of those have now come against Division 2 foe Fair Haven after Friday night’s defeat.
Windsor trailed by only five at halftime before the Slaters created a cushion during the third quarter.
Kate Hadwen had a big night for Fair Haven, tallying a game-high 24 points. Amelia Rockwood (9), Brianna Barton (8), Sophia Rockwood (8) and Audrey Rupp (8) led a balanced scoring attack for Windsor.
Windsor (14-3) enters the final week of the season in contention for the top seed in the Division 3 playoffs.
