DVFiber announces Patrick Moreland as new executive director

WILMINGTON, Vt. — DVFiber, the Communications Union District committed to bringing high-speed fiber internet to 24 member towns in southern Vermont, is pleased to announce the appointment of Patrick Moreland as its new executive director.

Moreland brings a wealth of experience in public service, municipal management and broadband expansion to his new role. Having served as Assistant Town Manager for Brattleboro since 2011, Moreland has been instrumental in regional economic development initiatives, infrastructure projects and disaster recovery efforts. His leadership and advocacy in securing funding and resources have had a lasting impact on the communities he has served.

“We are very excited to see Patrick join the DVFiber team as executive director,” said DVFiber President Steven John. “Patrick brings effective project management, support for a thriving local economy and a commitment to serving the public good. Under his leadership, DVFiber will continue to build your publicly owned and operated fiber network to reach the last mile throughout our Communications Union District.”

As a founding member of the DVFiber Governing Board, Moreland played a key role in bringing Brattleboro, the region’s largest population center, into the Communications Union District. His long-standing commitment to broadband expansion dates back to 2008, when he worked to explore early fiber-to-the-premises initiatives in the region. More recently, he has actively supported DVFiber’s mission to bridge the digital divide and provide reliable, high-speed internet access to unserved and underserved areas.

“I am very honored to take on this leadership role within DVFiber,” Moreland said. “This is an organization I’ve been a part of since the very beginning, and I have a deeply felt commitment to the mission. I look forward to working with representatives from our 24 towns to bring high-speed fiber Internet to the rural parts of Southeastern Vermont.”
