NEWPORT, NH– William A. Goyette, 89, formerly of Maple Manor, died Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Woodlawn Care Center where he had resided for the past year.
He was born on June 15, 1935 the son of Louis T. and Mildred W. (Lund) Goyette and was a native of Newport.
Bill graduated from Newport High School in 1953 and served in the US Air Force. His very first job was a paperboy for the Union and Eagle Times. He had been a shoe cutter at International Shoe and also an electrician for Lockheed Aircraft. He was a member of American Legion Post #25 of Newport.
In his earlier years, Bill liked to hunt and fish and candlepin bowl. He also loved to make puzzles, play horseshoes and enjoyed a good game of cribbage. He so enjoyed his yearly family reunions.
Bill is survived by a sister, Anna G. Dixon of Newport, NH; a brother and his wife Charles Louis and Margaret Goyette of Portsmouth, NH; a stepdaughter, Rita Smith Kelley of Estill Springs, TN; two grandchildren, James Christopher Kelley and Stephanie Bren Kelley; nieces, nephews and cousins and several grand and great grand nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held later in the spring at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Newport.
