CLAREMONT, NH– Debbie L. Eaklor 64, of Claremont, NH and formerly of Keene, NH, passed away on January 29, 2025, at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, following a long fight with mental illness.
Debbie was born October 27, 1961, the daughter of George E. and Lorraine L. (Croteau) Sawtelle. She grew up in Keene and was a 1981 graduate of Keene High School.
Debbie worked in the Housekeeping Department at Keene State College, and later as a care person in a nursing home in Keene. She moved to Claremont where she loved volunteering at the local soup kitchen.
Debbie loved to listen to music of all kinds. She especially loved the oldies and would sit in her husband’s chair in her living room and listen to her records. Debbie loved to go to concerts that our local Senior Center put on. Her favorite was Doo-wop music.
She also loved to go to her local stores in the area and shop for deals and whatever she wanted. We always told her she had a shopping problem with a smile. She loved to take trips to the ocean with her friends Linda and Shannon, and their two boy’s Alex and Brandon. She loved to sit in the sun and get some color.
Debbie love to have cookouts with friends at the Sunapee Beach in NH and go to the function’s at the LDS Church in Ascutney, VT were she was baptized in November of 2020. She created special relationships with the sisters there, Sister Helen, Sister Jenn, Sister Leblond, Sister Bagley and Sister Suckow. It was while attending church that she met her future loving husband, Leslie Eaklor.
Debbie is survived by her loving care-cat, Rosie RoRo; her friends, Shirley Beam of Claremont, Linda Todd and her husband Richard Todd of Utah, Alex Leblond and his farther Raymond Leblond of Claremont, Shannon Clark and her husband David Clark of Claremont, and Brandon Willis of Claremont. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie Eaklor, her parents, and her bother George.
A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00pm at the Sugar River Mills Building Community Room, 7 Heritage Drive, Claremont. Burial with committal prayers in the Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Avenue, Keene, will be held at a later date to be announced.
