Man faces fugitive, possession of cocaine charges

BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. — Two Bellows Falls men were arrested for possession of cocaine last week, and one of them had an active warrant out of New Hampshire and was handed a fugitive of justice charge. 

Westyn Wright, 44, of Bellows Falls was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from justice, possession of cocaine and violation of conditions of release. He was held on $75,000 bail/cash surety and arraigned in Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on Monday. 

Juan Carmona, 48, of Bellows falls was arrested for possession of cocaine and released on personal recognizance bail. After being processed at the Bellows Falls Police Department, Carmona was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on April 25 at 8:30 a.m. 

According to information from the Bellows Falls Police Department, on March 7 at 11:57 p.m., officers were patrolling the village and saw a vehicle parked on Prospect Street. Officers determined that one of the occupants was Wright, who they knew to have an active arrest warrant out of New Hampshire.  

“Wright was apprehended, and during a search incident to arrest of his person, Wright was found to be in possession of cocaine,” a police report stated. “Additionally in the vehicle was Juan Carmona, of Bellows Falls. During a consent search of Carmona, he was found to be in possession of cocaine.   

The Bellows Falls Police Department was assisted by officers from the Walpole (NH) Police Department and Deputies from the Windham County Sheriff’s Office with regard to this investigation. 

Additional court documents regarding the arrest and Wright’s fugitive status were requested but not received by deadline. 

Wright does have a criminal history. On March 22, 2023, he was arrested in Westmoreland, New Hampshire, by N.H. State Police for possession of a controlled drug, schedule 1-4.  

On August 20, 2022, he was arrested for damaging property when he abandoned a vehicle at the end of a culvert. He was charged with “crashes; duty to stop,” according to a report by the Vermont State Police.
