Sanctuary, Istel voted onto Acworth Budget Committee in only contested race 

ACWORTH, N.H. — The town of Acworth had only one contested race at Town Meeting with three vying for the budget committee. Voters chose Cheryl Sanctuary and Claudia Istel with 121 and 115 votes respectively, beating Frank Emig’s 54 votes. 

Incumbent Selectman Kathi Bradt had 152 votes to retain her spot on the board for three years, and Charlotte Comeau had 158 votes for another three-year term as town clerk. 

Marianne Nevelson was re-elected to tax collector for a one-year term with 157 votes; Local Auditor Lisa Devalk received 150 votes; and Laurie Luther-Houghton received 158 votes for trustee of the trust funds. 

Alison Ferrell had 153 votes to be named cemetery trustee for a three-year-term; James Neidert had 140 votes for a three-year planning board term; and Melinda Loiselle won the three-year library trustee seat and a one-year treasurer seat with 157 and 145 votes respectively. 

According to Comeau, 164 of the town’s 708 registered voters cast a ballot, which is a turnout of about 23%.
