Chester man faces fentanyl trafficking charges

BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. — A Chester man is facing multiple charges, including fentanyl trafficking, after being found in possession of the drugs when searched during a traffic stop. 

Joshua D. Snide, 39, was arrested on Dec. 28 by the Bellows Falls Police Department and charged with the following: Driving with a Criminally Suspended License (Second Offense), Violation of Conditions of Release, Possession of Cocaine and Trafficking Fentanyl. 

A police report by Bellows Falls Police states that on Dec. 28 at about 11:16 p.m., officers conducted a motor vehicle stop for an observed violation on Route 103 near the Interstate 91 exit 6 northbound on-ramp. 

Upon making contact with Snide, it was discovered that his license was criminally suspended in the state of Vermont. Snide also had active court ordered conditions of release that he was in violation of, and he was placed under arrest. 

“Items of drug paraphernalia were located on Snide’s person and inside of the vehicle,” the report stated. “A consent search of the vehicle was requested and ultimately denied by Snide. The vehicle was seized pending the application of a search warrant.” 

A search warrant for the vehicle was granted by the Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division that led to the discovery of suspected fentanyl and cocaine. Snide was additionally charged with trafficking fentanyl and possession of cocaine. 

Snide was processed at the Bellows Falls Police Department and was subsequently released on a citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on Feb. 25. 

A request for additional information, including the probable cause affidavit, has been requested of the Vermont Superior Court.
