NEWPORT, N.H. — Spring has officially sprung. Just like spring, the Newport Senior Center has some new activities budding. It is with great enthusiasm that the NSC brings you a Virtual Reality Stress-Reduction Program.
Virtual reality is a simulated, digital experience that allows people to interact with realistic 3-dimensional environments. Virtual reality is created with computer technology and used by people through a headset that will transform you to tropical islands, sunset beaches or deep into the woods.
Choose from multiple destinations as your brain responds by releasing certain feel-good chemicals that allow you to feel a sense of calm, relaxation and well-being.
Join the nurse students from UNH as they set you up for your 15-minute session of relaxation. Calgon is not the only thing to take you away anymore. Mark your calendars and join us on April 28, from 1 to 3 p.m., for this first-time event.
Registration is required. Please stop by the NSC to register for your free 15-minute stress relief program. The registration form is on the front desk. If you are not able to stop at the center, call 863-3177 and ask to be added to the registration list.
Now that it is officially spring, we know Easter will soon be here. We are thrilled to reveal a new card making class. Debbie will be at the NSC to help you create four fun cards to use for Easter and spring. The cards are designed for beginners or seasoned stampers. A picture of the homemade card you can design is at the front desk.
Classes will be held on Tuesday, April 8, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Pre-registration and fees are due by April 1. The class is $25 per person, with all supplies included. The class supply kit list is available at the NSC.
We know the SCNS pot roast is a crowd pleaser. As a friendly reminder, please call 863-3177 if you are planning to join us for pot roast Thursday, March 27. All registered guests will be served before non-registered guests to ensure there is enough. Pre-planning will ensure you a delicious pot roast meal.
