All-Eagle Times: VT Girl’s Basketball

THE FIRST TEAM 

Laura Kamel, Bellows Falls, Senior 

Overview: Standing north of 6-feet tall, the senior center was a force on the defensive end with averages of eight rebounds, two blocks, and one steal per game for the Terriers. Kamel also added nine points per game as the Terriers top scoring threat in the low post.  

Honors: First Team SVL C Division, VBCA Senior All-Star  

Abby Nystrom, Bellows Falls, Sophomore 

Overview: The sophomore point guard shined on both ends of the floor for Bellows Falls, posting averages of 14 points and 4.5 steals per game. The Terriers clearly missed Nystrom when she missed a few games due to injury, but she returned in time to help lead the purple-and-white to their second straight trip to the quarterfinals.  

Honors: First Team SVL C Division, VBCA Outstanding Underclassmen 

Sophia Rockwood, Windsor, Senior 

Overview: The senior wing took her game to the next level this season to help Windsor claim its third state title in four seasons. Rockwood reached the 1,000-point mark while leading the Yellow Jackets with 17.1 points per game and 53 three-pointers made this season. Rockwood also added 3.8 rebounds, 2.6 steals, and 2.1 assists per game.  

Honors: First Team SVL B Division, VBCA Senior All-Star  

Audrey Rupp, Windsor, Senior 

Overview: The senior point guard did a little bit of everything for Windsor with averages of 9.8 points, 4.3 steals, 4.2 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game. Rupp’s tenacious defense, strong leadership, and standout playmaking abilities were critical assets which helped the Yellow Jackets secure their 10th trophy in program history.  

Honors: SVL B Division Honorable Mention, VBCA Senior All-Star  

Macie Stagner, Springfield, Senior 

Overview: The senior standout shined despite competing in an incredibly talented SVL B Division that featured VBCA Player of the Year Peyton Guay of West Rutland, Gatorade Player of the Year Charlotte Jasmin of Hartford, and two state championship teams in Windsor and West Rutland. Stagner broke the Springfield school record and moved into the top 10 all-time in Vermont girls high school basketball with 1,877 career points, while averaging 20.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game this season for the Cosmos.   

Honors: First Team SVL B Division, VBCA Senior All-Star  

THE SECOND TEAM 

Brianna Barton, Windsor, Senior 

Overview: The senior forward may not possess the flashiest stats, but she has been an important part of Windsor’s success over the past four seasons. Barton averaged 5.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game this season while making her impact felt on both ends of the floor.  

Honors: SVL B Division Honorable Mention, VBCA Senior All-Star  

Sophia Cherubini, Green Mountain, Junior 

Overview: The junior forward’s tenacity and athleticism made her a handful for opposing squads this winter. Whether out-hustling, out-smarting, or out-jumping the opposition, Cherubini often found a way to secure rebounds and scoring opportunities around the hoop for Green Mountain.  

Honors: SVL C Division Honorable Mention 

Colie Roby, Green Mountain, Junior 

Overview: The junior guard was a threat to score from anywhere on the floor and helped Green Mountain to its first double-digit win season since 2019. Roby continued to perform well after assuming an increased level of responsibility following a midseason injury to starting point guard Hailey Daniels. 

Honors: First Team SVL C Division 

Amelia Rockwood, Windsor, Freshman 

Overview: The freshman guard could heat up in a hurry off the bench, finishing second on the team in points per game (7.7) and three-pointers made (30). Rockwood’s progress throughout the season played a vital role in Windsor’s championship season.  

Honors: VBCA Outstanding Underclassmen 

Kemari Wildgoose, Windsor, Junior 

Overview: The junior forward did a tremendous job stepping into her elevated role this season following the departure of All-State player Sydney Perry. Wildgoose averaged 6.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game and was a menace on the defensive end.  

Honors: SVL B Division Honorable Mention
