CLAREMONT, NH— Lucy Tewksbury, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on March 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on July 29, 1948, in Claremont, NH, she was the daughter of Jeanette Benware and Arthur Benware.
Lucy attended St. Mary’s High School, graduating in 1966. From a young age, she had a deeply compassionate heart, dedicating much of her life to caring for others. She welcomed individuals with disabilities into her home, providing not just care but a sense of family, making caregiving both her livelihood and her passion.
Lucy was the devoted mother of Lori Giguere and the late David Giguere. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and that joy only grew when she met the love of her life, Tharon Tewksbury and married in 1990. The two shared a deep and unwavering bond where they eventually settled down and built a life together in Unity, NH, where they spent more than twenty years enjoying their land, animals, and the simple beauty of country life. Among those who shared in their love for animals was their cherished granddaughter, Breanna, with whom they made countless treasured memories.
Lucy was known for her sharp wit, fiery spirit, and kind heart. She had a quick tongue and a generous soul, always ready with a clever remark but just as quick to offer a helping hand. She was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back, always putting the needs of others before her own.
She is preceded in death by her husband Tharon, parents; Jeanette and Arthur Benware, her son David Giguere, and her brother, Roger Benware.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her beloved daughter, Lori Giguere; her grandchildren, Breanna Craigue and her husband Arnold Craigue II and their Son AJ (Arnold Craigue III) whom she loved very deeply and which they shared a very special bond, and Bradley Anderson; and her sister, Linda Mosher, her husband Mickey Mosher. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews. Their hearts will forever hold the warmth of her love, laughter, and kindness.
In accordance with Lucy’s wishes, there will be no formal service or celebration of life. Those who wish to honor her memory may send flowers to 33 Craigue Hill Rd, Claremont, NH, or make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, a cause close to Lucy’s heart, where she generously contributed every year.
Lucy’s legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Rest easy, Lucy. Your fire, your kindness, and your love will shine on forever in the hearts of those who were blessed to know you.
