Grant funds available for drug enforcement operations, substance abuse initiatives

CONCORD, N.H. — New Hampshire Department of Safety Commissioner Robert L. Quinn announces the opening of the grant application period for the anticipated next round of state funding for the Substance Abuse Enforcement Program. The application period coincides with the anticipated legislative appropriation of RSA 21-P:66-68, which must be signed into law by the governor on or before July 1.

The grant program, which funds the ‘Operation Granite Shield’ and ‘Northern Shield’ initiatives, provides local law enforcement and county law enforcement agencies, as well as regionalized agency coalitions specifically developed for this project, the resources to identify, investigate and apprehend individuals and/or organizations that are involved in narcotics-related drug use and trafficking. The grant supports the implementation of collaborative drug enforcement operations and initiatives to combat the illegal sale, misuse and abuse of narcotics; as well as prevent drug-related overdoses and deaths.

In fiscal year 2025, 10 law enforcement partners and 30 agencies statewide received grant funds through this program.

The deadline for applicants to apply is Thursday, May 3, 2025, at noon. Grant applications can be found at dos.nh.gov/grants
