To the Editor:
Our libraries are our national treasure! We must support and protect them, keep their doors open and their lights on. They belong to all of us and — in this moment — it is up to all of us to stand up and speak out on their behalf. Thank you.

Interlibrary Loan program at risk
To the Editor:
Philip Read Memorial Library in Plainfield, now over 100 years old, has consistently provided a service and meeting place for the community, as well as books. The withdrawal of government funds will limit Interlibrary Loan, the program that provides ours and the book group in Plainfield’s sister library in Meriden with the books that make sharing ideas and lively discussions of issues possible. Not everybody can rush out to buy a chosen book. ILL makes our libraries a democracy and sharing means of enlarging, educating and satisfying the minds of everyone.
