CLAREMONT, N.H. — The Claremont Elks Lodge would like to invite everyone to a ribbon cutting for the Claremont Story Walk that will be located in Moody Park on the Shady Pines Loop trail. Every child that comes will receive free books. The unveiling is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29 at 5:30 p.m. at Moody Park.
A Story Walk takes a children’s picture book, separates the pages, and displays them on posts or signs along a walking path or in a park. It is a way to encourage literacy and movement with children.
The Claremont Elks lodge was able to use part of the Elks National Foundation Gratitude Grant to create the Story Walk, working closely with the Claremont MakerSpace to build the Story Walk book holders.
The Fiske Free Library provided background context about Story Walks around the community and helped with book selection for the next year. The Claremont Parks and Recreational Department came up with a great location for this fun addition to the community.
The Elks Lodge would like to say a big thank you to John Lambert for taking the lead on this project.
