CLAREMONT, N.H. — The publisher of Warner children’s author Matt Forrest Esenwine’s latest book, the poetry anthology “A Universe of Rainbows: Multicolored Poems for a Multicolored World,” recently donated copies of Esenwine’s book to every classroom at Maple Avenue Elementary School in Claremont.
The book, illustrated by Cornish artist Jamey Christoph, includes poems from many well-known children’s poets such as Jane Yolen, Nikki Grimes, Joyce Sidman and others, and combines poetry with science and nature.
Esenwine had been invited to visit Maple Avenue Elementary School by the nonprofit Children’s Literacy Foundation of VT and NH on April 1, the official publication date of the book. Knowing the school could benefit from the donation of books, Esenwine reached out to his publisher, Eerdmans Books for Young Readers, about how they might be able to help.
“I explained to Eerdmans’ marketing department that Claremont has been in the unfortunate position of being at the center of the state’s education funding debate for years,” Esenwine said. “So, if I was going to be presenting at the school on the date of ‘Rainbow’s’ publication, it made sense to try to make the visit a little extra-special.”
“A Universe of Rainbows,” which features poems about rainbows, Gouldian finches, rainbow eucalyptus trees, the Rainbow Nebula in Orion, and several other ‘rainbows’ is Esenwine’s 12th book.
