NEWPORT, NH— Barbara J. Lucas, 85, passed away at Woodlawn Care Center on April 18, 2025 after a period of declining health. She was born on February 14, 1940 in Rome, NY to the late Barton and Teresa (Depasquale) Burlison.
Barbara grew up in Rome, NY and met the love of her life, Robert Lucas, Sr. They were married and shared 64 years together before his death in 2022. They moved their young family to Newport, NH in 1971 after spending summers on Lake Sunapee.
Barbara spent many years working as the bookkeeper for the family business, Robert Lucas and Sons Well Drilling Company. She loved her family and spending time with all of them. She was a beautiful person who always had a smile on her face. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she would spoil her family with lots of gifts. Barbara liked being home where loud music would be playing and she would always have a cup of coffee and a cigarette in her hand. She loved dogs and enjoyed feeding all of the wild animals in her yard. In her later years, she spent a lot of time on her iPad and was the Queen of Facebook with lots of friends. Barbara also enjoyed dancing and going out to eat. She was a loving Mom and Grandmother and will be dearly missed.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Special thanks to Woodlawn for their care over the years and to Bob Marden for all his help.
