Joel C. Tremblay Jr.

CLAREMONT, NH— It is with profound sadness that the family of Joel Craig Tremblay Jr., beloved husband and devoted father, announces his unexpected passing on May 3, 2025 at the age of 47. His sudden passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of all who loved him. He was born in Lebanon, NH on July 26, 1977.

Joel graduated from Lebanon High School in 1996 and went on to work at Timken for 13 years. He then worked at the State of Vermont Building and General Services for 12 years where he became the District Facilities Manager. Later he went on to the Division of Fire Safety as the Vermont State Fire Marshal before moving to the City of Claremont as the Chief Building Official and Health Officer. In addition, he volunteered as the police commissioner for nine years ending in January 2023 and served as a Claremont City Councilor.

Joel served as the Worshipful Master of the Masonic Hiram Lodge #9 F. & A. M. since 2023. In this role as senior officer and leader, Joel was responsible for its overall operations and the well-being of its members. 

He married the love of his life in September of 2000 and they raised three wonderful children. Joel was the ultimate family man. He always put his family first, instilling in them the values of hard work, perseverance, and the importance of helping others. His commitment, loyalty, and ability to prioritize quality time with his family was unmatched. He enjoyed creating delicious and impressive meals in the kitchen, taking spontaneous trips with his family, coaching his children’s numerous sports teams, participating in paintball competitions, and lending a helping hand to anyone who asked. 

Joel was a dedicated public servant whose work and commitment to the city of Claremont and state of Vermont spanned many years. His dedication to public service will be remembered and honored. Known for his professionalism, integrity, and deep love for his family, he will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. 

Joel leaves behind his wife of nearly 25 years, Linda (Thorburn), and his three children, Molly, Morgan, and Tyler all of Claremont, NH. Joel is also survived by his parents, Joel Sr & Patricia Tremblay from Lebanon, his sister Lisa Saturley (Jim Quast) in Monticello, Minnesota, brother-in-laws Ray Thorburn (Kelly) and Andy Thorburn (April), and several nieces and nephews.

All services will take place at Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont, NH. Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 12th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 13th at 1:00 p.m. immediately followed by a burial at Union Cemetery on Old Church Road in Claremont, NH. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Joel’s name to the Claremont Savings Bank Community Center Scholarship Fund to support the Claremont Parks and Rec.
